about

Lisa Orth, who was our band visual and overall creative director, offered to give us money that she had received from an accident, hence the name, to put out an album. We urged her to start a label because she loved music and was a talented graphic artist (i.e. Nirvana "Bleach" cover). So she did and called it "Big Flaming Ego" records. She used a frilly, ornate serif typeface for the name/logo that you could only find on typesetting machines. At the time she was the art director for the Seattle music zine "The Rocket" at the age of 18.
